For surgeons treating large wounds, covering such wounds with the patient’s healthy skin is challenging due to the limited graft-to-wound area coverage ratio. Our approach offers a higher expansion ratio. The current standard of care often requires multiple-stage surgeries, leading to prolonged hospital stays. Addressing this need to cover large wounds with limited healthy skin will impact nearly 9 million burn injuries annually. We develop a device that sprays stamp-sized donor skin uniformly on the wound using innovative spray atomization technology. * DermaDice: DermaDice allows surgeons to greatly expand the coverage-to-donor-site ratio of autografts by helping to mince the skin into uniform-sized skin tissues, thereby helping with autologous closure of the wound. * Skin Spray Gun: Skin spray gun is a portable surgical device for skin transplantation using autologous (patient’s own) skin for the regeneration of the wound. It sprays skin in real-time to help surgeons cover large wounds with limited healthy skin in the process of skin grafting, thereby improving the graft-to-wound area coverage ratio.
